Profile - Kevan McGinty

Kevan McGinty holds a BA(Hons) degree in fine art: painting from Loughborough College of Art and Design, and a Diploma in Scenic Art from Central School of Speech and Drama.

He has worked as a self-employed scenic artist in numerous operatic and theatrical productions in London, painting sets for the English National Opera, the National Youth Theatre, the Royal Court Theatre, Plymouth Theatre Royal, and others.

Kevan also had one year as artist in residence at Loughborough Grammar School, acting as professional example and advisor for 6th form art students.

«I have a strong and intimate relationship with the natural environment, and use this as a focal point for my creativity. Integral to this is experiencing and absorbing it each day, month after month, year after year in order to gain a deeper understanding of its underlying rhythms and order. I paint from an urge to explore, to unearth new and exciting wonders from my imagination, and from a need to communicate, to share the experiences of this journey. »

«I am widely travelled in my search for inspirational subject matter, having hiked and sketched in the Scottish Western Highlands from the Trossachs in the south to Ardnamurchan in the west and as far north as Inverpolly Forest.I have also toured the French and Swiss Alps and the Italian Dolomites, have walked extensively in Cumbria's Lake District and Eden Valley, and have explored the lakelands of County Kerry.»
